Who We Are:
We are a group of Washington citizens who are deeply concerned about
the growing rate of distracted driving on the roads of our state. We
believe that texting and talking on mobile devices while driving is not
merely a "personal decision." Just like drunk driving, it puts others
at risk. Click here to see our current membership list.
Vision:
To save thousands of families the indelible agony of
losing a loved one to a driver who was paying more attention to a phone
than to the road.
Mission:
To make phone-related distracted driving as socially and legally unacceptable in Washington State as drunk driving is today.
Goals:
Pass stronger driving laws in Washington State. Specifically,
Make it a primary offense to talk on handheld phone while driving.
Make it a primary offense to text or email while driving.
Make it a primary offense for teen drivers to talk or text while driving (with or without a hands-free device).
Give police officers the tools they need in order to enforce the laws and collect accurate data.
Support efforts to encourage and reward responsible driving (e.g.,
introducing new forms of insurance discounts and new safety
technologies).
Enlist thousands of citizens across the state in discouraging
irresponsible driving (e.g., building social networks for discussions
about distracted driving).
